The DIR® model emphasizes the foundational role of social-emotional development and relationships in shaping learning, regulation, and overall growth.
Aligned with the Support Relationships (S) foundation of our S.O.A.R. framework, we focus on building strong, meaningful connections through child-led play and a strengths-based approach. For older children—especially those with executive functioning needs—we focus on strengthening social awareness and functional communication skills to support successful peer and family relationships.
Cognitive Processing Model
The cognitive processing model helps us understand how the brain takes in sensory information, stores and organizes it in memory, and produces behavioral responses.
Aligned with our S.O.A.R. framework and specifically—Organize Thoughts (O), Adapt Responses (A), and Reflect Growth (R)— this model supports attention, language, flexible thinking, organization, and self-monitoring, helping children stay engaged, learn new concepts, and navigate daily routines with confidence.
