Evidence-Based Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) & Parent Coaching

AAC refers to augmentative and alternative communication. Augmentative means to add to someone’s speech, and alternative means to be used instead of speech. There are many types of AAC, and we believe no child is too young to start. We honor a flexible total communication approach and value each child’s autonomy. These personalized sessions focus on parent/caregiver AAC training with emphasis on what we like to refer to as the 3 P’s.

  • Principles that guide AAC use

  • Programming efficiency

  • Practice makes progress

Utilizing an evidenced based teach-model-coach-review (TCMR) approach, this training ensures families have the strategies and confidence to reinforce communication skills at home and in daily routines.

Evidenced-Based and Neuro-Affirming Care

These sessions using evidenced-based DIR® principles are play-based and child-led, focusing on building connection, engagement, and communication through activities that follow the child’s interests. We are trained in Natural Language Acquisition and support our gestalt language processors. During these sessions, your SLP will join you and the child in play, model language, and gently expand interactions to support social-emotional development, attention, problem-solving, and expressive communication in a natural and supportive way.

Every child with autism has unique strengths and needs—and the right support can make a meaningful difference. Schedule a consultation today to learn how our individualized approach can support your child’s communication, connection, and daily success.
